Phenology!

Updated: Aug 29, 2022

When the forsythia blooms I know spring is near. Some folks also use the forsythia blooms to know when to prune their roses or fertilize their lawn. The study of plant and animal life cycles and how they are influenced by the seasons is widely known as phenology.

These warmer temperatures made me wonder if the phenology would be off kilter this year. Are you seeing any unusual phenological happenings in your area? For information on phenology you can visit the USA National Plant Phenology Network at https://www.usanpn.org
